CAUSES OF POOR TRAINING OF EMPLOYEES

The cause of poor training of employees can be attributing to unsystematic approach towards training. Much time has been spent on staff training program with no improvement in performance. These are due to some numbers of factors which are highlighted below:

  1. Lack of Simplification: The trainer ought to arrange training program m so that easy task comes first followed by more difficult one later. Armstrong (2006) supported the view by saying “the process of training should be from known to unknown, the simple to the complex, the concrete to the abstract”.
  2. Non Active Support from top Management: The support of top management is essential for any training program to be successful particularly program that involve people from different level of enterprises. The support of top management should go beyond the policy statement regarding training. For the best result it should include their active involvement and participation.
  3. The Learning Rate: People normally learn at different rate but there is a certain amount of uniformity in learning process. This should be taken into consideration by the trainer. Generally, the quick learner progress more rapidly in long run as against the slow learner, but in variable some individual learn more quickly and other more slowly.
  4. Motivation: It is the job of the trainer or instructor to create into the trainee that desire to learn by him/her self. Therefore, the reason and advantage of learning a job should be given to the trainee by the instructor so as to make him feel that he is doing something of important definite objective in mind such as financial gain. However, trainees who are not well motivated by their instructors will not have full desire to learn.
  5. Limiting Training to Class Rooms: Limiting training to class room is not enough, some experience in the work environment is necessary to make the work successful.
