Gender discrimination in political leadership position in our society has been a burning issue for a long time now in our society. A Gender analysis reveals that men as a group has maintained the control of the instrument of power through out history thereby advisedly affecting the equilibrium of the whole system.
A close look at political leadership position in Nigeria and Kogi State in particular shows that men occupy more political leadership position to their female counterpart. 1.2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM
We can not say that we are practicing a stable democracy when women are left out from decision making process in our society, women constitute more then half of the whole population, so leaving women out of decision making process is like leaving out half of the whole population in the scheme of things in our society.
Before now, several conferences have been held in the past to discuss the plight of women hood as regards taking or having their fair share in the day to day running of our society, yet we have fever women participative actively in decision making process.
The political arrangement in Kogi State now shows that among the whole councilors, chairman, state house of representative members down to the governors appointers, women occupy a minute or small percentage of the entire political leadership arrangement. It is based on this issue that this study intend to look at the factors that impede women from leadership position in our society.

1.5 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This work of research we could say is timely, considering the fact that gender discrimination is a burning issue in our society. One could ask a question on why women as a group are left out in the relm of affairs politically in our society.
To address these issue subsequent administrations and even the present administration of Dr. Gooduck Jonathan has recently allocated 35% percent of his appointment to the women in our society all in a bid to streamline gender inequality in our country.
So we could say that these research work is timely as it will find out why the fore going and at the end of the work, create solution in way of suggestion to the problem.
Further more this work of research is significant to the extend that it will contribute to our knowledge, hence, further researchers will find the work rewarding and a resource material.
1.6 SCOPE AND LIMITATION
For me I think the scope and limitation of the study should come after the research would have been carried out, but going by the format arrangements of the table of content, the following could be this some hitches we Might encounter at the course of carrying out the research work.
The study tends to cover gender discrimination in leadership (Political) in our society. We might encounter the following limitations in the course of carrying out the study;
- Financial Limitation: There was also financial limitation, because to carry out a research of any kind you need money and being a student my finances are limited.
- Collection of Information: There were limitations in getting all the required information needed for the research as some of the information’s where not forth coming due to lack of co-operation and secrecy the part of the respondents.
- Time Constraints: The time required to get the research done is limited being an academic requirement to finish your studies and research takes a considerable amount of time e.g two years.
- Secrecy: The respondents being questioned were reluctant in giving relevant information needed for the research work. They see the questions being asked as trying to probe them.
- Illiteracy: There was limitation of illiteracy on the part of some of the respondent. It is difficult for people who cannot read and write to appreciate the need to supply relevant research information.
The fact that sometimes we have to combine our daily lectures and other academic activities with the research work. These limitations can militate against the smooth conduct of this study.
